How to Pick the Right Package

Fifty-odd itineraries is a lot to scan. Four questions narrow it down fast, and you can answer all of them before you look at a single price.

  1. 1

Start with your total days on the ground

Subtract your arrival and departure days from your holiday length. Six or seven days in the parks is the sweet spot for the northern circuit; three or four covers Tarangire and Ngorongoro well; ten or more lets you add the western Serengeti, Zanzibar or the southern parks.

  2. 2

    Decide what you must see

If the Great Migration river crossings are the point of the trip, your dates and your route are set by the herds. If it is elephants, or rhino, or simply "the classic safari", you have far more freedom on timing and can travel in cheaper months.

  3. 3

    Choose your comfort level

Every itinerary on this page runs at budget, mid-range or luxury. The route stays the same; the lodges change. This is the biggest lever on price, and it is easy to mix — a simpler camp in Tarangire, something special in the Serengeti.

  4. 4

Then send it to us and change it

Every package here is a starting point, not a fixed product. Add a day, drop a park, swap a lodge, start on a Tuesday — we redesign around you at no cost, and most of what we finally book looks a little different from what the guest first clicked on.

What You Can See in the Time You Have

Days on safariRealistic routeWhat you getSuits
3 days Tarangire + Ngorongoro Crater A genuine taste of the northern circuit with a strong chance of the Big Five. Add-on to a Kilimanjaro climb or a business trip.
5 days Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro The classic. Two nights in the Serengeti is enough to find the cats and settle into the rhythm. First-time safari travellers with a week to spare.
7 days The above plus Lake Manyara and a second Serengeti region Time to follow the migration to wherever it actually is, plus a slower pace throughout. Most of our guests — the best value per day on the list.
10 days + Northern circuit plus western Serengeti, Zanzibar or the southern parks Migration river crossings, chimpanzees, remote parks, or a beach finish on the Indian Ocean. Honeymoons, photographers, second-time visitors.

What every package includes

The Same Standard on Every Itinerary

Private vehicle and guide

No shared departures and no pooling. A custom 4×4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof and a guaranteed window seat for every guest, with a professional guide who stays with you for the whole trip.

All park fees included

Entry fees, concession fees, crater service fees and government levies are inside the quoted price. Tanzania's park fees are among the highest in Africa and hiding them until the invoice is the oldest trick in this business.

Full-board accommodation

Every night, every meal, at the comfort level you choose — with the specific lodge named in your itinerary before you pay anything.

Flexible, refundable booking

A fully refundable advance holds your dates while you finalise flights, and we stay flexible on changes right up to departure.

24/7 support on the ground

A local team in Arusha, in your time zone, reachable throughout your trip — not a call centre on another continent.

Safari Package FAQs

Can these itineraries be customised?

Every one of them, at no extra charge. The packages on this page exist to show you what is possible and roughly what it costs. In practice we redesign most of them: guests add a night in the Serengeti, drop Lake Manyara, extend to Zanzibar, shift the whole trip a week to catch the migration, or upgrade one lodge and simplify another. Send us the closest match and tell us what you would change.

What is not included in the package price?

International flights, Tanzanian visa fees, travel insurance, tips for your guide and lodge staff, alcoholic drinks at most mid-range properties, and optional extras like a hot air balloon flight or a Maasai village visit. Everything else — vehicle, fuel, guide, park fees, accommodation and meals — is inside the price we quote.

When is the best time to go on safari in Tanzania?

June to October is the classic dry season: sparse vegetation, animals concentrated at water, and the migration in the northern Serengeti from roughly July to September. January and February bring calving on the southern plains and superb predator action. The green season from March to May is the cheapest and quietest time to travel, with dramatic skies and newborn animals, though some tracks get difficult after heavy rain. There is no genuinely bad month — there are only trade-offs, and we will tell you honestly which ones apply to your dates.

How far in advance should I book?

For July, August and the Christmas period, nine to twelve months is not too early — the best camps inside the Serengeti sell out that far ahead. For the shoulder months, three to six months is comfortable. For April and May you can often book within a few weeks. If your dates are fixed, book the accommodation first and let everything else follow.

Do you cater for solo travellers, families and honeymooners?

All three, regularly. Solo travellers get the same private vehicle and guide, though the per-person cost is naturally higher because the vehicle is not shared — we will always tell you where a small group would change the maths. Families get lodges with family units, shorter driving days and guides who are good with children. Honeymooners get quiet camps, private dinners and a bit of theatre where the lodge can arrange it.

Is Tanzania safe for tourists?

Tanzania is one of the more stable and welcoming countries in the region, and the safari areas are very safe. The ordinary precautions apply — watch your belongings in Arusha and Dar es Salaam, avoid walking alone at night in town, and use the lodge safe. In the parks you are with a licensed guide throughout, and camps inside unfenced parks provide a night escort between the tents and the main area. Talk to your doctor about malaria prophylaxis and routine vaccinations well before you travel.
